So last night I got together with a good friend / guitar player and we banged out a few tunes in his kitchen. He plays with a Zydeco band and I know some of their material from their album. You can hear a bit of it at www.zydecoloco.ca He has a nice little place out in the woods up in Wakefield, Quebec, Canada. This was like the fourth time that I had even jammed with anyone on the accordion. After about an hour of jamming my buddy Lee suggested that we eat dinner and then drag our instruments to the local bar and do a little playing there. So we did. My first time playing the accordion in public. Remember that this is the French province of Canada where everyone LOVES the accordion. We ran through about 6 or 7 tunes and the crowd was digging it. Then we ran into problems. We didn't really know anymore songs together. At this point Lee started dragging out any tune possible and it was a question of how well I could fake my way along. (100% improvisational situation) We did some Stones tunes, Beatles, Country, blues plus the Zydeco and Tex Mex stuff. Overall it was a big hit. Also, the place was crawling with French Babes that were all shaking it to Hank's "Hey Good Lookin'" I can think of a lot of worse ways to spend a Saturday night. (So now I am hooked and am looking for guys for a band. Stoney

Kewl Deally...
Nothing like jamming in a total free for all. Sometimes you just have to byte the bullet and let the bodies fall where they may. Congrates on coming out a head of the game. I am sure the French women dug it! Thats what i am talking about.

Yeah, it was a super cool weekend. On Sunday we went to visit another freaky friend of mine, Claude, also living in Wakefield, Quebec. (Some of you may remember him from the Guestbook of the old AA) He and his brother run a Cajun Culture web site at www.cajun.ca/Every year they organize a Zydeco / Cajun festival. Long story short he is a big One row player. I hope to get some tips from him on playing the Zydeco style. The guy plays really well and gets the basses going too. Very cool. Overall, a great weekend. Stoney
