Like that guy up there, i think what yall guys do here is awesome, makes me feel like im not alone in the accordion world. Its also a great place for begginers (like me) to learn from others.
I love tejano music, loved it since i was a kid, so i finally said what the heck, ima learn how to play. So i went on a hunt for an accordion, and ran into the Gabanelli store here in houston, and was stunned by the price. But man they looked beautiful and realized they were worth everypenny. Here i am starting off looking for a gabannelli. Not a smart move huh . . .
Then someone adviced me to start off small, you know price wise. So right away i looked online and ordered a sofia mari 31 button diatonic accordion/12 bass buttons. Was this a good move for a begginer? I already ordered the video i read about so much in here, the flaco jimenez one. I am counting the days till i get the sofi mari in my hands. Shes Rarely talked about in here? Why? Someone hit me up with some begginer advice.
-Gracias

GOOD MOVE NEWBEE, d**n GOOD MOVE. Sofia Mari Is A Great Begginer Accordion. I Have Owned One Myself And I Can Say That They Are d**n Good. What Key Did You Get It In, FBE or GCF? Once Your Set On Playing Full Time Then Get A Gabbanelli. But If You Dont Learn Alot Whats The Point. I Started Like You, With The Small Time Accordions. Now I Own A 2 Tone Cantabella And Im Ready To Play Professionally. As For The Flaco Tape, Good Move. Learn A Couple Of Polkas That Way You Can Have A Good Learning Base. Do I Think You Made A Good Move? ? F**king Aye, Squeeze The Hell Outa That Box For Me. Jr

GCF is more commonly used for polkas but there are some bands that use them to sing in like Los Desperadoz us GCF tuning.
FBE is usaly the tunning used to sing in like Ramon Ayala y sus bravos del norte,Intocable,Pesado. Its deeper in tone and it easier to sing with.
GCF is a good tuning, dont think you made a mistake. I was just asking cuz I wanted to know.

Dam i was hoping for the intocable pesado sound. Will it make a difference in my learning process? Will i easily be able to transfer to a FBE tuning ?

Switching from one accordion tunign to another is not hard, its just different keys. If you learn C then you play the same position on FBE accordion its Bb.
Some songs that Intocable and Pesado play are in C and so your set there. alot of others are in Bb which is another key on GCF.
Learn your keys and then learn songs.
