So I am hoping to finish off the Tabs contest sometime early in 2005 and then start something new.
This one will take a bit more involvement on the part of the participants. So I am giving you plenty of notice so you can all get started on it.
Here is the deal. It is really two contests. One for the people who have a GCF and one for the FBE people.
If you have both accordions you can enter in both contests.
I have thought out the GCF contest, the FBE contest will be exactly the same but we need to pick a song.
The song for the GCF contest is:
Margarita, Margarita.
This is a very well known song which has been recorded by a ton of artists.
This is the one that goes.
Margarita, Margarita, no te subes tan arriba.....
.....Ay que lastima, que lastima etc. etc.
Ok, the contest is this:
Step 1.
Reply to this post that you intend to participate.
Step 2.
Record yourself playing this song. The recording should be bare bones, just Bajo Sexto (or guitar) Accordion and voice. On the recording you should show your stuff. This should be YOUR version of the song, your arrangement, and your fills and tricks.
Step 3.
Tab out what you did.
Step 4.
We will set a date (probably a whole week) when I will be on line and you can send me the recording via messenger.
Next, all the recordings will be added to the site, (with credit given to each participant of course) and then a poll will be created to see whose version is the best.
So all we need is a similar tune (Ranchera) that is commonly played on the FBE accordion. The best choice would be a song that is well known and which has been recorded by numerous different artists.
Prizes to be announced.
So, is anyone interested? Does this sound interesting?
Please be honest. If you cannot commit the time to this project, don't say that you will. However, I am thinking June or July of the coming year, so we have lots of time to get prepared.
Reply if you are interested or have a suggestion for the FBE song.
