Recent events have (or should have) taught us all a lesson in ethics.
One thing we can all take from the end of Accordion Assassins is that it is not the guilt or innocence of an individual that decides his character; the illusion of guilt is enough to ruin him (or her) (Just ask Michael Jackson)
I bring this up because there are many of us who would like to buy a new accordion or get into a band or do any of the 100 of other activities associated with music, and there seems to be a decietful person at every turn.
Buy on E bay? You have to worry about who you are buying from.
Buy from one of the hundreds of Accordion dealers that are selling on line? You have to worry whether they are honest.
There is one dealer in particular who I would just love to burn down. He sells the Rossetti accordion line and charges over $1000 for the Rossetti 2 accordion. Can you believe that? More than $1000. Just insane!!!!
Who does this guy think he is? Does he think we are all stupid?
From the members comments the Rossetti seems to be a reliable little box. But just imagine if you are going to buy your first accordion. Someone tells you that Rossetti are pretty good for beginners, so you do a search and find this guy's web site. You pay the $1000 and then discover that the average price is about $450. Wouldn't you just freak out?
So aside from sticking up for the little guy, I am doing all I can to promote dealers that you can trust, like Max from Ranco and if I haven't said it before, let me tell you all now that I have talked with some people who have told me that Karlos of Karlito's Way accordions is a 100% trustworthy person. Also, (and here is a recommendation that may surprise some people) Gilbert Reyes has a crystal clear reputation as far as accordion sales is concerned. (I may have had differences with the man in the past as far as his forum was concerned, but I have never doubted his business ethic)
But whatever your situation, economic possibility or experience with Accordions (or any other product for that matter) DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY.
And if you have trouble, let you brothers and sisters at this forum and all the other forums know about it.
